Appointment of Chief Executive Officer
It is with great pleasure that I write to advise of the appointment of Dr Frank Evans as Yea and District Memorial Hospital’s inaugural Chief Executive Officer.
The Board of YDMH is delighted we have been able to attract a person with such an extensive range of experience and skills for this role. Frank Evans has enjoyed a long career and built a strong reputation in a range of health care settings within regional Australia.
Frank trained as a registered nurse at Lismore Hospital and gained his midwifery qualifications at Gosford Hospital. He worked in health service manager roles in regional New South Wales at Narrabri and Deniliquin before becoming Chief Executive Officer and Director of Nursing at Upper Murray Health and Community Services, based at Corryong, from 1997 to 2008.
Subsequent to that, from November 2008 until June this year, Frank held the position of CEO, Central Gippsland Health.
Central Gippsland Health is a network of public and private, not for profit, health services with: acute campuses at Sale, Maffra and Heyfield; community and home support services provided throughout the Wellington LGA with centres in Maffra, Sale, Heyfield, Rosedale and Loch Sport; and residential aged care services provided at Sale, Maffra and Heyfield.
In that role Frank made a significant contribution to the planning, development and coordination of health services for his community. This included developing a conceptual model to pilot Values Based Health Care in regional Victoria and successfully leading the program through the first two years to achieve recurrent funding. Frank also served on a number of regional health planning and coordination committees while at Central Gippsland Health.
Frank’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Nursing), a Master of Health Service Management – both from Charles Sturt University – and a Doctor of Health Service Management from the University of New England.
I am sure you will join with me in welcoming Frank Evans to Yea and wish him every success in this important role for our local community.
