Hand Hygiene saves lives. Our staff undertake a day of fun activities on this serious matter
Our YDMH staff embraced the World Hand Hygiene activities on May 5th. We all understand that clean hands are critical to optimal care.
Activities included clear hand gel being applied that is washed off with any residue showing up under UV light. The common places that we all miss are the finger nails, thumbs and webs of the hand.
The nursing, care and hotel services staff all enjoyed the fun activities involved in demonstrating the importance of this simple activity – hand hygiene saves lives.
For 2021, the theme for World Hand Hygiene Day was “Achieving hand hygiene at the point of care.”
According to WHO, the point of care is about three elements that are the patient, the health care worker, and care or treatment involving contact with the patient or their surroundings. The WHO said that there is an effective way of preventing the spread of microorganisms and virus. The prevention can be done by washing hands properly in the most effective way.
