Resignation of CEO

Yea & District Memorial Hospital Chief Executive Officer Resignation

It is with regret that this week the Board of Yea & District Memorial Hospital (YDMH) has accepted the resignation of Chief Executive Officer, Frank Evans.

Since commencing as CEO in December 2021, Frank has made a considerable contribution to the ongoing success and long-term viability of YDMH. Frank has moved to strengthen the health services executive structure, focused on improving working arrangements for the team by working with Executive Director Clinical Operations, Louise Sharkey and Director Performance Improvement, Maria Collins to oversee a successful outcome for the Acute Accreditation and ensured YDMH is well-represented in broader planning forums within the health sector.

At the same time, Frank has worked assiduously through the most serious outbreak of COVID affecting our health service to ensure services are maintained and residents continue to receive high quality care, along with ensuring the needs of our staff are being attended to. This has involved a great personal commitment.

During the past five months, Frank has demonstrated how important the CEO role is for YDMH. He has also made the board aware that the CEO role should be a full-time role able to be performed by someone based in our local community.

Frank has also been able to show that our health service is now able to fund this role without impact on other services or staffing levels.

In tendering his resignation, Frank indicated that other pre-determined career ambitions and lifestyle expectations preclude him from either taking on more of a full-time role or relocating himself and his family to Yea.

Frank will finish on 30th June 2022. The Board’s immediate focus is prioritising the recruitment of a new full time CEO based in the local region. The board will continue to support the extremely well-regarded executive team in this transition period.

The Board of Directors would like to thank Frank for his contribution to YDMH and wish him well for the future.

Ian Marshman

Board Chair
