Update on Visiting YDMH – new Flu Vaccination evidence requirement

We know these are uncertain and concerning times for everyone but want to again reassure you all that we are continuing to review all information provided by both the Department of Health (Commonwealth Government) and Department of Health and Human Services (State Government) in regards to COVID-19 requirements for residential aged care facilities.

One of the latest updates is that all visitors to both Rosebank Nursing Home and Rosebank Hostel are now required to provide evidence that they have been vaccinated in 2020 for influenza (Flu).  This includes all staff working in our aged care area.  Our staff across the organisation have responded promptly and most are already vaccinated.

We appreciate that it is not always easy to get the vaccine early in the season but we have sent a letter to both Yea Medical Clinic and Yea Pharmacy requesting they consider prioritising people who visit residents at Rosebank facilities.

If you are not able to get the vaccine straight please contact your Aged Care  – Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) between Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm.

If you are unable to have the influenza vaccination due to medical reasons you are still able to visit the facility, but only if you have provided evidence from a medical practitioner as to the reason you cannot have the vaccination.  If this applies you will need to also discuss this with the Aged Care NUM before visiting.

When you have the vaccination can you please request a written letter or completed form from the provider showing evidence that you have had the vaccine and then bring that in and request that either a nursing staff member or the NUM photocopies this so we can have it on file.  We are required to have evidence of each person’s flu vaccination who enters the premises.

We thank you for your co-operation and assistance with following these above measures as we all have the same goal to ensure that all residents, staff and visitors remain safe and healthy.  We will continue to keep you updated when there are any further changes, please check with staff or the Nurse Unit Manager if you have any queries or concerns.
