Yea & District Memorial Hospital provides health, aged care and community services to Yea and surrounding communities. Our services have grown and changed alongside our community, while our focus remains on providing safe, accessible and person-centred care close to home.
Today, Yea & District Memorial Hospital (YDMH) provides acute and urgent care, residential aged care, district nursing, community health and a range of other health and wellbeing services.

Hospital services in Yea date back to the early twentieth century, but the story of Yea & District Memorial Hospital is particularly shaped by the remarkable commitment and generosity of the local community.
In 1948, Yea’s Centenary celebrations helped raise funds towards a new hospital for the district. The vision was to create both a place of care for the community and an enduring memorial recognising the service of local people during the Second World War. Planning, fundraising and development continued through the years that followed, leading to the development of a new hospital during the 1950s.
As Yea and the surrounding district grew and changed, local healthcare evolved with it. Acute services expanded and residential aged care became an important part of the health service. Once again, the community played a significant role, raising substantial funds to support the development of the Rosebank Extended Care Centre..
In the decades that followed, hospital, aged care and community health services became increasingly integrated, creating the comprehensive rural health service that Yea & District Memorial Hospital provides today.
Today, we deliver acute care, urgent care, district nursing, residential aged care, and a range of community and allied health services to people across Yea and surrounding communities.
Our history is ultimately a story of people caring for people. Generations of residents, volunteers, staff, donors and community organisations have helped shape local healthcare and ensure it continues to meet the needs of our community.
That strong partnership between Yea & District Memorial Hospital and the community remains at the heart of who we are today.
The original Rosebank Hostel building was redeveloped to accommodate Community Health, Yea Medical Centre and allied health services and was named in recognition of Grace Bennetts’ contribution to residential aged care in Yea.
Yea & District Memorial Hospital continues to carry its name as the community’s memorial to the men and women of Yea and surrounding areas who enlisted in the Second World War.
