Since 1 July 1998, the Department of Health has required all service providers to collect co-payment fees for services provided to community members. These fees ensure that all Victorians are treated fairly and equally when paying for the services they receive.
Co-payment fees are reviewed each year in line with Department of Health guidelines. Yea & District Memorial Hospital (YDMH) will inform clients of any changes.
All funds collected through co-payments are reinvested to provide more services for our local community.
The structure of these fees is as follows:

Appointments over 1 hour may be charged in 15 minute blocks.
From 1st August 2026, Yea & District Memorial Hospital (YDMH) will implement updated co-payment fees in line with revised Department of Health guidelines.
The Department of Health requires community health services to charge co-payment fees to ensure a fair and consistent approach for all Victorians accessing services. These fees are reviewed regularly, and the updated fee schedule will take effect from 1 August.

No one will be refused a service due to an inability to pay. Clients experiencing financial hardship may apply for a fee reduction or waiver. Applications are considered confidentially, and applicants will be advised of the outcome.

No co-payment fees apply for:
- Financially dependent children under 18 from low-income families
- Counselling or casework for people with low or medium incomes
- Interpreting services
- Intake or initial needs assessments
A failed to attend fee will apply if less than 24 hours’ notice is given for a cancelled appointment, or if you arrive more than 15 minutes late.
If you use multiple services, or one service frequently, a fee cap may be arranged.
