Saleyards Project

A sunny Spring day set the perfect scene for a gathering of our local farming community at the Yea Saleyards on Friday, 5th September. The event offered not only a chance for farmers to catch up and do business, but also to engage with important health and wellbeing services provided by local organisations.

The Yea and District Memorial Hospital (YDMH) District Nursing Service was present, offering free Blood Pressure Checks to attendees. This simple but vital service was well-received, with many taking the opportunity to check in on their health in between livestock sales.

Also on-site was the Alpine Outreach Community Health Bus, which welcomed visitors inside to explore the wide range of basic clinical services it offers. This mobile health facility is a valuable asset for rural communities, providing access to care closer to home.

Andrew Langley, the Shire Access & Inclusion Officer from Murrindindi Shire Council, spoke with attendees about registering for My Aged Care – a vital step for older residents needing support services.

In addition, YDMH continued its commitment to mental health support, with nurses available for relaxed fireside chats and referrals for further clinical assistance.

Overall, it was a successful day blending community, care, and connection.
